Value

We get the job done right the first time. Regular all-weather commuters and athletes in training demand nothing less. Nothing annoys us more than fixing a problem twice. At CycleLife we will never give you the runaround. We always shoot straight and make sure your service investment goes as far as possible.

Quality

We have made significant investments to ensure that our work is of the highest quality. Our mechanics use the best tools, work in a clean, spacious, open-format service area and regularly receive brand-specific training and certification. Service and installation is always done to manufacturer specs. We strive to do the best work on each and every repair, adjustment, and assembly. When safety and performance are at stake, perfection is the only option.

Committment

There is no "iron curtain" separating the service area from our customers--we are a different kind of shop. We sponsor athletes and are visited by fitness center members on a daily basis. As a service to our commuters and athletes we open at 7AM and close at 8PM weekdays . The close relationships we form with customers inspire a level of commitment  few bike stores can match--to educating our customers, to safe riding, and to making your bike work perfectly.

Appointments

There are pressing repairs -- the kind that keep you off the bike -- and then there are those that are necessary but can wait. You'd rather keep riding your bike instead of dropping it off only for it to be worked on in five days. To answer that need, our service department accepts appointments for same-day service. The process is simple:

  1. Bring your bike in for a quick assessment.  This should take less than 15 minutes and can done while you wait.
  2. Schedule your appointment. Most appointments can be schedule within 5-7 business days.
  3. Arrive on schedule and drop off your bike at the scheduled date/time
  4. Pick up your bike later that day

Service Staff

Michael Esmonde

Michael "Frannie" Esmonde likes working on "any bike that people ride" and getting people "what they need, and not what I want". Through the winter of 2009-2010, Esmonde commuted to work by bike every day – rain, snow, sleet, hail or shine – to open the shop at 7AM. He has raced road, MTB, and 'cross, winning the 2007 Cat 3 MABRA Bar and finishing 5th place overall at the 2010 Clarendon Cup. Mike leads several rides throughout the week from the shop, coaching new and seasoned  riders during the rides. Don't be afraid to ask him questions!

As service manager, Mike is always open to suggestions and feedback. If we didn't get the job done right the first time, he'll make things right. He also makes home made beer and loves to work on his house and yard in N.E. Washington. Mike is a new father to Izabella, born in June 2010.

Matt Moore

Matt Moore was born in Washington DC, lived here for 19 years, and spent 6 years in WV attending college and working. As early as middle school, Matt was wrenching bikes and learning his way around the service area. Working at CycleLife has given him a chance to pick up new skills. "Each day here is a learning experience. Everyone is an expert in their own field so it's impossible to go a day without learning something new."

Matt rides on the road, commutes, and mountain bikes. "The best rides are long road rides with friends that end up with a cold beer (specifically, Newcastle Ale or Circus Boy by Magic Hat)," he says. "My morning commute straight down Wisconsin Ave is much better than a morning coffee. I recently purchased a new mountain bike, so I plan to get out more this season and do a 24hr race or two. I also completed the Nations Triathlon last year and plan to compete in again this year. Rockclimbing is my second passion to cycling. When you're around bikes 24/7 sometimes its nice to escape 100 feet up a cliff."
