Fit First

The perfect bike starts with the perfect fit  – your muscles work efficiently, your saddle is comfortable, and your forearms remain relaxed. Cycling is a repetitive motion sport where a couple millimeters can mean the difference between comfort and injury. That's why CycleLife puts fit first and has invested in sending our retail staff to fit school.  Once we know what your body needs, we'll steer you to the right brand and model. And if your body needs something that we don't sell, we'll be the first to point you in the right direction.

Better and Best Products and Services

By offering better and best products and services, our retail staff can stand 100% behind what we sell. We want our staff to be excited about our products, use our products daily, and sell from the heart. From affordable bombproof commuter apparel to high end racing bikes, "Better and best" means carrying a focused selection of reliable products that perform well over time. It means getting the best value and enjoyment from your purchases.

Team of Experts

With dedicated fitters, coaches, medical-grade performance testing, and injury prevention / treatment specialists, we have a wealth of experience and knowledge under one roof. And that diversity extends to the retail team itself --among them elite bike racers, new triathletes, gear junkies, college track runners, diehard bike commuters, and mountain bike racers. At CycleLife, you'll get no shortage of opinions and perspectives. We invite you to visit the store and pick our brains. If a staff member can't answer your question, they'll find someone who can.

Meet Our Sales Team

Gonzalo Escobar

At 25, Gonzalo Escobar has already logged close to a decade in the industry wrenching, fitting, and selling. Between commuting to CycleLife, racing on the road, racing cyclocross, and mountain biking, Gonzalo is on his bike year round. Suffice to say, Gonzalo has logged some serious chamois time. On his recovery days, he enjoys watching the Big Lebowski (again), kicking back with a pint glass of Recoverite, and reading French literature. Gonzalo recently traveled to Morgan Hill, CA  is a BG Matster Fit Technician.

Niels Knutson

Originally and proudly from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Niels Knutson moved to DC to work in politics and is currently a graduate psychology student at American University. If you're new to triathlon, Niels can relate. His first tri was in 2006, and he went on to finish Ironman Wisconsin in 2008. "There are so many options for what kind of bike you can get for your first race and I like helping people decide which one is going to carry them on to the run with a fast split and fresh legs." Judging by his four year stint with World Champion Drum and Bugle Corps, it's probably safe to say Niels has spent some time at band camp.

Chris Lipnickey

As the retail manager, Chris Lipnickey is the champion of our "better and best" brand offering. He's no slouch in the fit department either, having completed the Specialized's BG Fit and Master BG Fit curriculum. "My perfect customer", explains Chris, "is someone who is prepared and committed to finding the right bike. It may take a few visits but I need them to open up to me and let me know their wants and needs." A former sworn campus police officer, qualified taser operator, and Star Wars fan (specifically episodes IV,V,and VI), Chris claims that his interest in orienteering is decidedly "not dorky".

The Right Gear for when the Weather Turns Wet

by Eric Sorensen on 12/29

With the arrival of my second son in October, I knew that training time was going to get even tighter than it was. With that in mind, I wanted to leave myself with as few excuses as possible not to ride. While I have never shied away from cold weather riding, the prospect of the cold and WET has often left me making alternative plans. So I stocked up on rain-specific gear that also met my budget -- reference the birth of my second son above.
