A statement by Hippocrates best summarizes our practice philosophy: "The function of protecting and developing health must rank even above that of restoring it when it is impaired." At Capital Sports Injury Center, we have integrated many therapies into a pioneering form of injury care, health development, and sports/life performance we call Integrated Functional Performance.
Washingtonian Magazine's top expert in sport medicine Dr. Steve Horwitz integrates different therapies like Active Release Technique®, Graston Technique®, Chiropractic Care, Kinesio® Taping, several forms of electrical stimulation and ultrasound, and corrective exercise to treat the nervous system, soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments), and the joints. We apply these therapies in a functional manner in an effort to relieve pain, restore optimal function, and maintain health. Our goal is to improve your daily life, whether that means your performance on the field or court or your ability to lift your child or get in and out of your car.
Each patient or client is examined and evaluated to determine his or her specific needs. We then develop a customized program of care and/or training and proceed accordingly. We recognize the value and responsibility of working with other health care professionals and both co-treat and refer to many local physicians.

Muscle Activation Techniques
Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is a form of bodywork that identifies and corrects muscular imbalances that relate to tightness, pain and injury. By addressing the weak links, we allow the body to function more efficiently. The result: increased joint mobility with increased stability.
"True Story: I pinch a nerve 2 weeks ago due to a crash. I swim through it but it hurts big time until it gets to be too much. I go see Amie at CycleLife USA for one of my routine MAT sessions. She fixes my right trunk rotation and literally the very next morning I swim 5,200 meters hard. No exaggeration, a miracle worker!!! Thanks Amie!"
