There's a reason that even coaches have coaches; juggling your passion for sport with life's other responsibilities is tough work! A good coach is your one-stop copilot, navigator, life coach, project manager, and expert consultant.

We help athletes of all experience levels:

  • Get Started: We test, build a structured plan, and help you set challenging but achievable goals
  • Get Motivated: We keep you focused on your plan and keep you accountable
  • Stay Healthy and Sane: We help you train efficiently and minimize the risk of injury, sickness, and burnout

The CycleLife coaching relationship remains, above all, a trusting relationship between coach and athlete. We encourage all of our athletes to drop by the fitness center and meet with their coach face-to-face, take a coach-led group class, or jump on one of our regular shop rides or runs

Once that trust is established, we mobilize the whole CycleLife team and facility for the client's benefit, including performance testing, consulting with our personal trainers and nutritionists, massage, gear advice, bike fit, and injury prevention/treatment. We also use the latest training technology, including power meters, gps tracking, pace monitoring, and online training logs ... all the while maintaining that human connection.

From beginners to breakthroughs, from professional athletes to working professionals, come feel the difference a personal relationship with your coach can make.

Meet Our Coaches

Eric Sorensen

Like many of us, Eric liked to swim, bike and run in the summers as a kid. He just never stopped. In high school he was an All-County swimmer and All-State cross country and track runner in Michigan. He then ran cross country and track at the University of Virginia, earning All-ACC honors in the 10,000 meters on the track. After years of 90+ mile running weeks, he went back to swimming for cross training and naturally found triathlon shortly thereafter. In the 15+ years of racing since then, Eric has raced the Ironman and XTERRA World Championships twice each, the ITU short course World Championship five times, and has been named a USA Triathlon All-America twelve times. He was the overall champion of the Columbia Triathlon in 2000 and still holds the Reston Triathlon course record.

While his personal accomplishments were nice, he still wanted to do more the sport. In 1999, Eric turned his passion into he profession when he left his desk job to become partners in a triathlon coaching business and has been a professional coach ever since. Along the way he has escorted hundreds of athletes to the achievement of their goals. From first-time triathletes to competitors at the highest level of the sport, Eric works to create a personal, trusting relationship with his clients to maximize their potential and get the most out of their training time. He holds certifications as a coach USA Triathlon and USA Cycling, and as a bike fitter from Fit Kit, F.I.S.T., and Specialized BG.

Steve Dolge

I am an Ironman triathlete with a strong belief that, as with all things in life, variety and balance are key elements to health and happiness. I have been competing in triathlons for over a decade and have more than 35 races under my belt, including a half-dozen Half Ironman races and Ironman Lake Placid in 2007.

But swimming, biking and running are only part of my exercise regimen. I am active in Yoga, began strength-training in junior high school and maintain a love for Aikido, a Japanese martial art that means “the way of harmonizing with the universe.”

I am an ACE certified personal trainer and USA Triathlon Level 1 coach.

I believe that fitness should help you live your real life, not become it. Like you, I strive to balance training with the commitments of work and family.

Schedule a Consultation

What can a coach do for me? How do I get started? How does testing fit in the equation? Are my goals realistic?

We've been there. Selecting a coach can be a challenge unto itself.

Take advantage of a free Athlete Services Consultation to get to know the CycleLife coaches, ask us your pressing questions, and learn about the nuts of bolts of the coaching relationship. We'll use this opportunity to learn more about what drives you, your goals, your limiters (outside stressors, commitments, injuries, etc.), and your expectations.

Walk-ins are always welcome, but scheduling an appointment assures that you'll be able to meet with a coach at a pre-determined time, and also allows us to get the process started early by emailing you a new athlete questionnaire. You'll have our undivided attention during your visit! If you cannot find a slot that fits with your schedule, please contact us at (202) 333 8883, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
